Colorado River - Grand Canyon - Diamond Creek to Pearce Ferry - Part IV

On day 4 we had less than 10 miles to go to the take out. The new boat ramp was easy too find and we could see the vehicles as we approached. The spare for the trailer and the tail gate were in the 4runner and the strap that had held the tire in the trailer was broken. Apparently the spare had cut the new NRS strap that was holding it to the side of the trailer and bounced into the tail gate. We attached the sides of the trailer to the tail gate with straps. After derigging and loading the vehicles, We hiked to Pearce Ferry rapid and took a look at it. It had a clear run on the left side, cutting back toward the middle at the end. But if you didn't make the intended route, it seemed like it could be a disaster. There were pour overs on either side with holes that looked very sticky. I was glad we (any of us) were not running it. We had a sit-down dinner at the first restaurant we came to in Kingman, dropped Richard in Chino, and got home at about 9:00. We drove through a lot of rain and under very black clouds and the temperature gauge read as low as the mid 40's. We saw hail along the side of the road, but did not hear any hit the 4runner. At one point, we drove into a full double rainbow.
