Day 1 - Old Safford Bridge to River Mile 10.5

It was cold if a breeze was blowing and not in the sun, otherwise tolerable. At 290 CFS on the Gila Clifton gauge, there was plenty of water. Even though the terrain is more open upstream from the confluence of the San Francisco River, this section feels more intimate. Lots of nice Gila Conglomerate columns/flows. Gillard Hot Springs at the end of this stretch. Mark pauses to inspect the waterwheel located just upstream of the hot springs. Some steam rising, but the springs are covered except at very low water.
