Days 1 and 2 - Deer Lodge State Campground to Anderson Hole Camp.

With only 5 miles to make on launch day, there was no rush for the final rigging. Five minutes after launching we stop at the extremely well-built Shank cabin on river right. With built-in cabinets and massive roof beams, it proves a worthy stop. The entrance to the Yampa River canyon is a well-known and photographed scene. An hour later, we arrive at Anderson Hole, our assigned camp. With this flow, the trip consistently has all afternoon to hike and play tourist. The Stubs cabin and cliff watching are popular past times. Our beach gradually disappears with the ever increasing flow.
