Day 1 - Coolidge Dam to Hawk Springs Canyon (River Mile 2.9)
Uneventful drive up from the Phoenix area with a
short stop in Globe
for Subway sandwiches. Then it was off to the launch point at the
river gauge bridge
. Minimal rigging/packing involved and we shoved off at just after 2 PM. The first of several swims occurred roughly one minute later. There were a lot of sweeper, strainers, and class II rapids at this flow. We were satisified with a short day and pulled into the
flat water
just upstream of the
Hawk Springs dry wash
. Took a
few pictures
, a very
pleasant stroll
up the wash, and enjoyed a pot of Kiki's Jambalaya.
